The Deity That Weeps

Look! Our Great Mother is weeping now!
Let us console the heart of our Great Mother!
Let us together wipe Her tears now!
Let us make Her cry no longer!

Know that She cannot be angry!
She cannot be rude!
She cannot be impure!
She cannot be nasty!

She cannot hate!
She cannot intimidate!
She cannot terrorize!
She cannot annihilate!

She cannot wage war!
She cannot slaughter!
She cannot shoot!
She cannot loot!

She cannot draw a sword!
She cannot make anybody scared!
She cannot seize anybody’s land!
She cannot make anybody enslaved!

She cannot send anybody to hell!
She cannot be cruel!
She cannot be brutal!
She cannot kill!

She can only weep!
Weep, weep, weep!
Deep, deep, deep within!
For Her beloved children!

She is gracious, merciful and kind
She can only cry for the world
The cry that heals the wound
The cry that saves the world

The Great Mother let Her be!
Of the Earth, the sky and all the stars
Of all humans, plants and animals
Of the past, the present and the future

Look! Our Great Mother is weeping now!
Let us console the heart of our Great Mother!
Let us together wipe Her tears now!
Let us make Her cry no longer!

N.B.: This poem is sincerely dedicated to all victims of terror attacks in our broken world today. What I had in mind when I composed this poem is not Mary the mother of Jesus. I gave the name The Great Mother for the deity because I wanted to express a woman god, not a man god, hoping that a woman god could express the meekness side of a god. A woman god who is meek is, i feel it, more heart-touching than a man god in the reality of violence in our world today. Good and touching metaphors can heal the world.
